Having coffee machines in the branches would be a great refreshment while waiting. Most customers wouldn't mind paying for the coffee.
When I recently visited my Standard Bank branch in Kathu, I could not enter the bank as I had a 3 year old and my 8 month baby in the pram. The problem was the roll door, the pram couldn't fit. So I went to the door for disabled as i clearly was, I rang the bell and was TOTALLY ignored by the Standard Bank staff. Please use mother friendly doors like ABSA do.
When a client comes into a branch on a Saturday morning needing advice on vehicle finance, don't just tell him that he can't be help because the consultants only work from Monday to Friday. The client probably does not have a vehicle and cannot just come to the bank during the week. Why do you think he is there on a Saturday? Be polite and tell him sorry for the inconvenience and ask him if you can take down his details so that the consultants can phone him during the week and see if they can help him.

I suggest that Standard Bank arrange to have something to do for the people who have to wait in branches.
I was stuck in a branch for over half an hour to open a linked Prestige account for my wife. I was not allowed to use my cell phone, but there was nothing for me to do, not even a magazine to read.
It made my experience awful and boring. Allow me to use my phone (no talking though), or give me some entertainment.

Coffee machines with cookies, water and cold drink dispensers in all the branches will make waiting easier...
Branches often experience high loads of customers at fairly predictable time periods, e.g. lunch times, on payday, etc, for fairly run of the mill transactions.
These high customer load times lead to long queues for all those concerned, even the guys that are there for non-payday related transactions. Read more »
Most branches have flat screen TVs that are usually tuned in to a news channel, which is not very original or exciting. It would be great if said TVs could be used to feature news and information pertaining to Standard Bank's campaigns or their social media platforms, which not everyone knows about.
A while ago I visited a Standard Bank branch and there was a machine there which took R2 coins and dispensed jelly beans. What a cool idea!
Is this still happening at all?
