| Electronic statements older than 6 months | Standard Bank Team | 2010/02/26 - 11:33 |
The issue at hand is that (depending on the product) statements get forwarded (in principle) to each and every accountholder, eg current, card and VAF accounts receives monthly statements, Home Loans accountholders receive their statements every 6 months, etc We only store the last 6 months on our live systems (BDS) and in general the previous 4 to 5 years are stored off site in our archives. This mainly has to do with the vast amount of data that needs to be stored. So it is not as easy as the pressing of a button and everything is ready. :) |

Multitude of languages encouraged in our business Standard Bank Group aims to stay relevant to the communities we serve through banking. Our branches aim to serve to communities in the languages that is preferred by the community. We do however also have to comply with legislation and government guidelines and are also dependant on the skills offered by the community. If there are no skills available to run the business from the community or that can speak the language, we have to employ staff that does have the relevant competencies to ensure that Standard Bank Group's service levels are consistent. While we use English as our primary language (as do most formal businesses in South Africa), staff in our branches are encouraged to address customers in their own language wherever possible. |

Many thanks for submitting this idea. Yes, we have looked into it. Yes! it is something we want to do! Unfortunately, the law works against us when it comes to this. Specifically the South African Consumer Protection Act, which says that we may not use your contact details for such “generic” messages. Your idea does, however, encourage us to continue working on this and hopefully we’ll soon be able to ensure that you hear from us on your special occasions. |
| Trade Portal | Jack Moruthane (not verified) | 2010/02/16 - 11:09 |
An inexpensive 'trade portal' need not focus on small businesses only. That would defeat the point of trade, and therefore, buying power. All traders can be registered traders - buyers and resellers on a single port. With Standard Bank as the back-bone traders would be able to trade in all currencies whenever and from wherever they are... |

Standard Bank should seriously consider making this service available for free & not just limit it to 12 per month. FNB & ABSA do not charge for this service. Another idea maybe to receive updates for one deposit & all debit orders. |
| That's a very good point... | Donovan | 2010/01/28 - 08:34 |
Not only that, but it should be possible to choose to only receive email statements. |
| Perfect idea | valentine nkosi. (not verified) | 2010/01/27 - 10:00 |
I think that this is a great idea! It would be good for us to be able to see what is going on with our account instead of having to wait for the statement in the post. |
