Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While we prefer to work with dealerships to reduce possible risk, we do provide finance for private deals in South Africa. We have processes to place to evaluate the risks in any private deal before making a decision to provide the finance.
Our consultants should be doing this as part of their job. If you feel that they have not considered all the facts, please urge the consultant to look at all the facts again. Alternatively, you may ask that they refer the decision to a higher authority.
You may also talk to another vehicle and asset finance consultant by calling us on 0860 000 000 (South Africa only).
In my humble opinion I think Std Bank should take a broader approach to Private vehicle finance.
I have sourced a superb vehicle which is 5 years old & cannot get finance through Std Bank as it is being sold by a private seller. Private sales = car must be 4 years or younger, where-as you can purchase a vehicle from a dealer if it is 5yrs old.
This particular vehicle has extremely low mileage for its age, never been in an accident, 1 owner & the purchase of a lifetime.
After looking for a car for 4 months & then you find the perfect one only to be declined is stressing.
The vehicle would have to have all the necessary checks & verifications done anyway. Basically now I must speak to the seller & find a registered dealer & pay them commition to get the vehicle I desire.
Thankfully there are other alternatives to using Std Bank for finance. I am currently looking into my options.
Point in case... Never register a car towards the end of the year if buying new, rather wait for January.
Excellent advice, Identity Theft is no longer an urban myth. It’s real and it’s here.
Identity theft, and the fraud that followed, became a reality for over 9 million people in America last year, and it has become a global problem. South Africa is no exception.
You would probably be surprised at how easy it is to steal somebody’s identity in South Africa, where countless fake passports, identity books and driver’s licences are in circulation.
It is great that you are a sponsor of such a game. It is great because it brings joy to people. I wish there were more of such games. It is great that this time it was held in Zimbabwe. This country needs such events. Each event brings some money to it and it is nice. Of course it would be even better if people who rule this country were honest too.

My view of Standard Bank overall is excellent; but when it comes down to month ends, and the Banks are packed with people wanting to get their deposits in on time, refreshments do not matter at all to anyone! I just hope in future we could resolve this problem, please!
Indeed I would rather a criminal try to steal my PIN than try to steal my finger.
By the way, how would this work if you injured your hand and your fingers were "tied up"? Or even amputated?
Personally I like the idea of using one time codes on SMSs but the delays would cause longer lines at the ATM.
If you are starting a new business and you haven't got to a point where you can afford banking fees after about 3 months, then maybe you need to re-think your business.
Personally I'd prefer not to have to wait at all. If Standard Bank start making coffee available, especially if you pay for it, they'll feel less like helping you in a hurry. The same thing applies to the LCD TVs that they have put in the branches.
They were put there to stop you from feeling so bad about having to wait so long.
Rather spend the money on a few more staff in each branch to keep the backlog clear.
We've had a problem with our site due to excessive traffic to the site. We have since fixed the problem and we're monitoring to ensure that the site is running properly.
Since Sunday morning (4 July, +/- 10 o'clock) I have not been able to login to my Standard Bank internet banking. Some major funnies on the website when you click to logon to internet banking asking for a username and password as oppose to your account no, pin, password.
Tried accessing Standard Bank's website this morning (5 July, 10:30) with no luck..
What is going on here guys? I HAVE BANKING TO DO !!!!
I do receive on a daily basis many requests for FNB, ABSA, and STANDARD BANK to update my login details and has forwarded to secure standard bank. I have sent it to spam where I delete it without delay. I use Firefox as my browser and would like to know if I can block it forever without receiving it at all. Is there a way that I can do it?
Didn't like this interview so much, have seen a few better one's in my time. Interview? I think not. I quite liked the description of the film and actors and it's awesome that you mentioned that the great Anthony Mantle worked on her film.
I am yet to see the movie and can't wait to do so, trying to get a hand on the copy any opportunity I get. However, I have not yet achieved this goal. Claire is really talented as a filmmaker and I will gladly follow her projects in the future.
The South African Reserve Bank has decided that commercial banks may continue to accept old series R200 notes until 31 July 2010. After that date these old notes may be exchanged only at South African Reserve Bank branches.
The only other change to this process is that exchanges of old series notes of over R10 000 must be done at a person’s own bank or at the Reserve Bank. This means that you have to have a Standard Bank account to exchange notes at Standard Bank. The notes have to be deposited into an account and normal cash deposit fees will apply. Alternatively, customers may exchange the notes at no cost at the Reserve Bank.
See our previous post for more, bearing in mind the change of deadline to 31 July.

Give good jazz artists more primetime slots on tv & radio... I hate that they get hidden in the wee hours or late night slots

I am interested in Online Share Trading mainly secured shares. I have about R10 000 to invest, can I also engage in daily trade?

I've heard so much about you. Black Diamond, I must see you. I'll be attending your show. Can't wait.
Does anyone know what is wrong with Mcafee? It doesn't show on the Standard Bank Internet Banking webpage when I try to download it?
